Cervical cancer is rare – there are 3,000 cases per year in France and around 1,000 deaths. However, precancerous conditions are very common and women affected require extensive treatment.
The screening test consists of a smear test starting at age 21, then at 22 years of age, and every 3 years after that if the results are negative.
Who it concerns
Women between 21 and 65.
After 22 years old, a three-yearly smear test is sufficient if the results are negative.
