COVID-19 - How to claim compensation for looking after children at home
Caisses Sociales de Monaco
11, rue Louis Notari
MC 98030 Monaco Cedex
Principle and conditions
Following the temporary closure of crèches and schools until further notice, parents who are unable to home work may be granted paid sick leave, under certain conditions:
- They must have a child under 16 years of age (18 years of age for children with disabilities in a specialised establishment)
- Be affiliated to the Social Services Compensation Fund
- The other parent must not be in a situation of total temporary layoff
Parents must, first of all, have discussed the possibility with their employer of implementing a home working mode during the closure. If the employer refuses to agree, reasons must be given.
Only one of the two parents may benefit from ceasing work in this context. However, the cessation or work may be split and divided between them.
Employers are invited to continue to pay salaries to their employees.
Persons insured in other categories of social security schemes in the Principality should contact their Monegasque health insurance body to discuss the applicable arrangements.
