If you lose a firearm you must make a declaration to this effect to the Police Department immediately, within a maximum of 48 hours of the loss. If your firearm is stolen you should submit a report to the same authorities.
This procedure is also necessary for the loss or theft of any part of a firearm or ammunition.
In the declaration you must provide precise details regarding the circumstances of the loss or theft.
You will then be given a receipt of declaration of loss or a certificate of the reported theft.
