"Portail Ariane" for peace of mind when travelling

Print page

In a bid to improve its response to crisis situations, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development Crisis Centre has created an Internet portal allowing those French and Monegasque nationals who wish to do so to provide information regarding their travel overseas easily and free of charge.

All you need to do is to enter details of how you can be reached during your travel, and of the person who should be contacted in the event of an emergency.

Data registered through this portal will only be used in the event of an emergency, by the Crisis Centre and by embassies, in order to contact users in the event of relief operations being conducted.

The Ariane portal will therefore enable authorities:

  • To compile a list of French and Monegasque nationals who have notified the authorities that they are in the affected area
  • To provide information to citizens via a direct telephone call or SMS
  • To contact the person designated by the user as their point of contact in France or Monaco who should be informed in the event of emergency, in order to provide, obtain or confirm information about the traveller

Initial work on the tool was conducted in cooperation with the French National Commission on Data Protection (Commission nationale de l’informatique et des libertés, CNIL) in order to assure users that the security and confidentiality of their personal information would be guaranteed.
