Principle and conditions

Many apartment blocks and other buildings are situated near the route of the Grand Prix circuit. A large number of people therefore crowd onto balconies and terraces, creating a risk of serious accidents by:

  • Overloading the balcony far beyond the safety capacity of balconies in normal use
  • Overcrowding residential buildings that were not originally designed to meet safety conditions for receiving the general public

To invite guests onto your balconies, loggias and terraces of buildings within or near the circuit during the Grand Prix races:

  • Your balcony, loggia or terrace must be in good order
  • Your guests must have a special pass
  • The total number of people on your balconies, loggias and terraces must not exceed two people per linear metre of the guardrail, rounded up to the nearest whole number
  • Permission must be obtained to install special structures on your balconies, loggias and terraces

1

How to check that your balcony/loggia/terrace is in good condition

You should ensure that your balcony, loggia or terrace is in good overall condition and have it checked by an authorised entity in the Principality. It must meet the minimum requirements stipulated by building regulations.

2

How to obtain a pass

All owners, tenants and organisers wishing to invite people to use a location situated within the circuit must obtain a special pass. These passes are issued by Police Department.
