Principle and conditions

The request for a grant for a student who is a dependant in the parental home should be addressed to the Department of Education, Youth and Sport before 31st July of the forthcoming academic year.

Applications are processed in date order of registration, provided that the documents provided can be evaluated.

Monegasque applicants can benefit from a greater contribution towards tuition fees for diploma courses run by top-flight educational establishments, a list of which has been drawn up by Ministerial Decree.

In principle, for these establishments, the State now determines the amount of the study grant awarded based on actual tuition fees, with a percentage of the fees covered ranging from 25% to 100%, depending on the family quotient of the candidate's household.

Providing the financial supporting documents

You must provide a sworn declaration stating any additional income that you have received (securities and income from investments, bank interest, etc.) between January and December of the past year (or a declaration of non-receipt, according to the model provided). Please note: a declaration must be provided for each person over the age of 18 who is living in the household (including students).

You must also provide financial supporting documents corresponding to the situation of the members of the family for the past year:

If you receive family allowances

  • An overall declaration from the CCSS (or the CAF in France) mentioning the family allowances and any special payments (such as the special payment at the start of the new school year, educational payment and end-of-year payment) received between January and December of the past year.

If you are parent at home (or single parents for applicants of monegasque nationality)

  • Applicants of Monegasque nationality: a global declaration issued by the Department of Social Welfare and Social Services stating the amount of the social allowances ("single parents" or "parent at home" or other) received between January and December of the past year or a declaration of non-receipt issued by the Department of Social Welfare and Social Services
  • Applicants of foreign nationality: an affidavit of non-receipt of remuneration received from October to September of the previous school year

Other dependent children living in the household (aged over 16)

  • Proof of employed status: a copy of a salary slip from the month of December of the previous year, stating the annual net total
  • Students currently studying: a certificate of attendance at an educational establishment or a copy of a student's card for the previous academic year and the current year
  • In cases where children have undertaken one or several paid activities between January and December of the previous year: proof of income received

You are a candidate for the study grant and receive a salary during the university year of the request

  • A copy of the contract mentioning the number of hours of work per week

If you are separated or divorced

  • A complete copy of the divorce ruling (or separation) and any subsequent rulings
  • Up-to-date proof of the amount of maintenance payments and other contributions to the education and maintenance of the child(ren), received between January and December of the previous year

If you own property

  • Documentary evidence of the rent amount (Monaco and foreign countries) paid between January and December of the previous year

If you are a civil servant, an other Government or Commune official, or a temporary employee in the monegasque Administration

If you are an employee

  • A copy of your salary slip for the month of December of the previous year, stating the annual net total
  • If you have received bonuses/ indemnities between January and December of the previous year: a global declaration of the net salary received between January and December of the previous year, stating the amount of the bonuses/indemnities
  • Proof of the amount of paid leave received between January and December of the previous year (when the paid leave is not paid directly by the employer)

If you are unemployed

  • A copy of the ASSEDIC dismissal notice or of unemployment benefit paid by the Department of Social Welfare and Social Services or the Employment Office received between January and December of the previous year

If you are retired

  • A declaration from the various pension schemes stating the amount of retirement pension received between January and December of the previous year
  • A global declaration from Monaco Town hall stating the amount of social allowances (State old-age pension, special retirement allowance or other) received between January and December of the previous year
  • A global declaration issued by the Department of Social Welfare and Social Services stating the amount of social allowances received between January and December of the previous year

If you are a trader

  • A duly certified accounting statement of the sums taken by the manager during the period from January to December of the previous year (or, failing that, during the previous business year)

If you are a member of a company

  • A duly certified accounting statement of all types of remuneration received between January and December of the previous year

If you are taxi

  • Copies of turnover statements, submitted to the Tax Services and documentary evidence of deductible expenses (CAMTI, CARTI, fuel, vehicle maintenance, insurance, parking etc.) for period between January and December of the previous year

If you are self-employed professionals

  • A sworn certificate of the income received between January and December of the previous year

Providing the administrative supporting documents

You must provide different supporting documents, depending on your situation:

  • A certificate of registration (or a copy of a student's card) mentioning the specialisation and the level of study for the current year
  • For applicants enrolled at engineering schools, political studies institutes and commercial schools (unless the diploma is certified by or the training is registered with the National Directory of Professional Certifications): proof of enrolment costs for the current year, mentioning the name of the student
  • A copy of the marks and/or diplomas obtained in the previous year, stating the number of credits earned
  • A copy of the General Secondary School Diploma (baccalauréat) (copy of the marks obtained or the diploma) for new applicants only
  • In the case of student accommodation: a copy of the lease for the current year/receipt for accommodation relating to the academic year of the application
  • In the case of training involving periods of work experience: a copy of the apprenticeship contract
  • An extract from the applicant's birth certificate, for new applicants only
  • A certificate of nationality, for new applicants only
  • Two window envelopes (DL 110 x 220), stamped for a 50-gramme letter (i.e. 2 Monegasque stamps at the current postal rate per application)
  • Bank account details (IBAN) of the applicant, if they are an adult, or of their legal representative, in the case of minors only
