Principle and conditions

The Young Ideas Competition is a Department of Education, Youth and Sport (DENJS) programme that encourages the initiatives of young people aged 15 to 25 in the following fields:  good citizenship, humanitarian work and solidarity.

Entry criteria for candidates

  • Candidates must be over 15 and under 26 on the date their entry is submitted
  • They must have Monegasque nationality or be resident in Monaco, or attend an educational establishment in Monaco
  • A candidate who has already won the Young Ideas competition cannot enter again

Criteria for eligibility of projects

  • The projects must be personal projects
  • They can be presented individually or as a group entry
  • They can relate to any area of activity
  • They can be sponsored by an association, an administrative department or a business in the Principality
  • The must show originality, creativity or innovation
  • Preference will be given to projects of general interest or of an altruistic nature

Eliminatory criteria

  • Holiday and leisure projects and projects related to study or training are not accepted
  • Participation in sporting events and rallies, i.e. any activity that is not initiated directly by the candidate, is excluded

Contacting the CIEN

The Academic Counselling and Education Resource Centre (CIEN) welcomes you and can advise you on your project. You can ask an association, an administrative department or a business to sponsor your project.

Making an application

Your application must contain the following:

  • The application form and a description of your project, to be completed on the Young Ideas competition entry forms:  Download file Concours Idées Jeunes (327-0016_01-2016) Concours Idées Jeunes (327-0016_01-2016)
  • A photocopy of your ID card or student's card
  • Parental authorisation, for candidates who are minors
  • A declaration from the association, administrative department or partner business, in the case of sponsorship

You must submit your application before 29 April 2016

Presenting your project

Once you have completed your application, you will present your project to the Young Ideas jury, which allocates financial help for innovative projects. It will note your motivation, the relevance of your project, its social usefulness and its local impact. The winner(s) will be awarded a grant of up to 5,000 €. The amount of this grant can vary – it is left to the jury to decide depending on the justifiable costs of the project. Winners must sign an affidavit relating to the use of this grant and the submission of their projects. If the winners are minors, the agreement must be co-signed by their parents.

Carrying out your project

The Young Ideas jury can give you advice on carrying out and making the most of your project. When you have finished your project, you must inform the president of the jury that it has been completed.
